Your first sentence is PRIMO real estate. If you don’t grab ‘em there, you’ve lost them!
And this isn’t just limited to your first sentence, either…
Because each sentence has the job of making your reader keep at it. Go onto the next sentence. And the next.
But that FIRST one is critical because if you don’t get them there – you never will!
So how do you do that?
Get straight to something interesting. The temptation is to start with something super fluffy and dull.
If you need to being by writing that just to get in the groove, that’s fine – but make sure you chop it out during editing so your reader starts right where the good stuff begins!
