No one decides what’s you – except for you.
I had someone comment on my Instagram that it’s not authentic enough. Odd comment, right? It’s not totally troll-y… just strange. How does some rando who knows nothing about someone decide what’s authentically them?
Confession – I like styled shots. I like beautiful images. I’m a trained designer – it’s part of who I am. I like making things beautiful. Naturally, my feed reflects that.
To be totally fair, my feed does look pretty ridiculously awesome at the moment.

My life isn’t normally like that. But these events convenient make for fab, almost-too-good-to-be-true images.
Sure, Instagram’s always going to be a highlight reel. No one wants to see snaps of peeps sitting in front of their computer for hours on end. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
It’s like when I was a kid and I couldn’t get why you never saw characters on TV in the bathroom. Yup, everyone does it. But you don’t need to Instagram it to make it more ‘real.’ (Seriously. We don’t need THAT level of authenticity! )
So just be the lovely you, that only you are! Love posting quotes? Obsessed with puppies? Like chatting about the latest car to hit the market? Do it – and love doing so! People don’t have to ‘get it.’ The right people will.
